What is ESG (without jargon)
ESG stands for three areas of how a company is managed:
E — Environment — How the company affects the environment. Energy consumed, water used, waste generated, CO₂ emissions.
S — Social — How the company treats people. Employees, workplace safety, training, diversity, relationship with suppliers and the community.
G — Governance — How the company is run. Ethics, transparency, anti-corruption policies, decision-making structure.
In practice, when a bank or large client asks for "ESG data", they're asking: "Show us what you do in these three areas."
You don't need to be an ESG expert to respond. Bsustain organises the right questions and helps you gather data you already have — energy bills, personnel records, internal policies.
What matters is not having everything perfect. It's having information that is organised, honest and verifiable.
